The Galleries Shopping Centre

We have been cleaning the glass surfaces, both inside and out, of the The Galleries Shopping Centre in Bristol since it first opened in 1991 – that is 26 years! So, why have they used STP for all these years? Quite simply because we deliver a great service, ensure rigorous Health and Safety compliance on all cleaning projects and offer excellent value for money.

The Galleries has all kinds of different shapes and sizes of windows and other glazed surfaces such as the glass walk way between the shops and the car park, glass panels around the perimeter of the central atrium, on the escalators and the 70ft high glass roof that allows light to flood into the centre.

We use a variety of different cleaning methods to cover each different area. Outside cleaning is done by a combination of reach and wash and hand washing. Inside we clean the glass balustrades of the escalators by hand as well as this achieves the best outcome. To clean the high glazed roof, we use a special compact cherry picker that is perfect for interior work and allows us to get to the hard to reach central panels above the atrium. All interior cleaning is carried out at night to ensure that we do not interfere with the shops busy opening times.

As with all high level window cleaning health and safety is critical on this job, especially when using the cherry picker to reach the high up areas. We have an excellent track record relating to Health and Safety and have had no accidents or incidents throughout our company's history. Our machine operators are all fully IPAF trained and qualified and our strict policies ensure that guidelines relating to high level work are always followed. We constantly monitor and update our safety systems and have been recognised with the prestigious Safe Contractor accreditation award.

Operations manager of the Galleries Tony Torrington said, “STP carries out all high level cleaning work for us.
